Job summary

The Clementine Churchill Hospital in Harrow, part of Circle Health Group, is seeking a Senior Theatre Practitioner (Scrub) on a 12‑month fixed‑term, part‑time basis, 22.5 hours per week. You will support the perioperative team and help coordinate theatres.

The role requires orthopaedic scrub experience, NMC or HCPC registration, and proven leadership in a theatre setting. You will assist surgical and anaesthetic teams, contribute to safe patient flow, and cover flexible shifts.

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse (NMC) or Operating Department Practitioner (HCPC).
• Significant perioperative experience with specialist orthopaedic knowledge.
• Orthopaedic scrub experience essential.
• SFA qualification desirable.
• Leadership, communication and decision‑making skills.
• Good governance, infection control and theatre safety knowledge.
• Previous senior or team‑lead experience in theatres.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and handle specialist instrumentation and equipment in line with guidance and protocols.
• Provide skilled assistance to surgical and anaesthetic teams, adapting to changes during procedures.
• Take a senior role in preparing theatres, coordinating lists, and ensuring resources are in place.
• Support Theatre Manager with briefings, scheduling, stock control and patient flow.
• Supervise junior practitioners, ODPs and healthcare assistants during shifts.
• Identify clinical or operational risks and participate in audits and incident reviews.
• Collaborate with consultants, anaesthetists, recovery staff and ward teams to ensure continuity of care.
