Job summary

The Senior Medical Photographer at Newcastle Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust provides expert ophthalmic imaging essential for accurate diagnosis, treatment planning and ongoing management of eye conditions across multiple hospital sites. The role combines imaging practice with team leadership, training, and involvement in research.

Imaging modalities include Fluorescein Fundus Angiography, OCT, Indocyanine Green Angiography and Slit Lamp imaging.

Qualifications

• BSc in Medical Illustration or equivalent qualification / experience
• Registered Medical Illustrator Practitioner
• Membership of the Ophthalmic Imaging Association

Responsibilities

• Report patient safety incidents and contribute to investigations
• Lead the Ophthalmology Photography Department team
• Mentor medical photographers and develop training programmes
• Provide clinical imaging for patient assessment, diagnosis and care planning
• Collaborate with manufacturers to maintain imaging systems' efficiency and effectiveness
