Job summary

The Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Senior Medical Photographer to lead ophthalmic imaging across multiple sites. You will drive high-quality imaging, mentor staff, and contribute to research while managing resources and collaborating with equipment manufacturers.

Candidates should have a strong background in medical photography, ophthalmic imaging and staff leadership, with a commitment to safety and continuous improvement within a major NHS trust.

Qualifications

• BSc in Medical Illustration or equivalent qualification/experience.
• Registered Medical Illustrator Practitioner.
• Membership of the Ophthalmic Imaging Association.

Responsibilities

• Lead delivery of high-quality, safe imaging service and supervise staff.
• Mentor medical photographers and develop training programmes.
• Support clinical imaging for patient assessment, diagnosis, and care planning.
• Manage department finances and resources; liaise with manufacturers.
• Contribute to safety reporting and quality improvement.
