Job summary

Nottingham University Hospitals (NUH) is seeking an Associate Ophthalmic Science Practitioner to join the Ophthalmology department on a fixed-term basis. The role focuses on performing imaging and technical assessments to support diagnosis and management, with the virtual clinic expanding responsibilities as a contact point for appointments.

The post offers a Band 3 entry with progression to Band 4 on competency training, and a training role in ophthalmic imaging within a busy hospital setting.

Qualifications

• GCSE or equivalent with passes at A–C in English and Maths
• Degree in Ophthalmic Imaging or Ophthalmic related subject
• Recent ophthalmic clinical experience
• Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work in a multi‑disciplinary team

Responsibilities

• Perform ophthalmic imaging and technical assessments across the service.
• Ensure accurate measurements using specialist equipment.
• Supervise new staff and trainees in technical procedures.
• Support flexible delivery of care across clinics and services.
• Contribute to audits and research projects as required
