Job summary

Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust invites applications for an Associate Ophthalmic Science Practitioner on a fixed-term basis. The role focuses on performing imaging assessments (including OCT) and supporting diagnosis and management in a busy ophthalmology department.

The post holder will work closely with optometry, orthoptics and medical teams to deliver high-quality patient care within a flexible service. Experience with imaging, VA, and visual field testing is preferred.

Qualifications

• Experience undertaking imaging assessments (e.g., OCT) and measurements.
• Ability to maintain high accuracy with specialist ophthalmic equipment.
• Good communication and organisational skills for multi-disciplinary teams.
• Supervision and training of new staff in technical assessments.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical imaging services across ophthalmology to support diagnosis and management.
• Deliver accurate measurements with OCT, IOP, VA, and field assessments.
• Support virtual clinic services as the primary contact for clinical appointments.
• Supervise and train new staff in technical ophthalmic assessments and operate flexibly to meet service needs.
• Collaborate with optometry, orthoptics, and medical teams to deliver patient care.
