Job summary

Metzger Search and Selection Ltd seeks a Senior Operations Director in London to lead a portfolio of complex client contracts with a people-centered leadership style. You will be responsible for senior client relationships, contract performance, and driving continuous improvement across the portfolio.

Qualifications

• Significant senior operational leadership experience overseeing multi-contract or multi-site portfolios.
• Strong commercial expertise with P&L accountability, pricing, margin management and risk-informed decisions.
• Proven ability to coach and develop Operations Managers to enable confident, accountable performance.
• Ability to engage senior clients and guide complex discussions, including constructive challenge when needed.
• Hands-on experience with complex mobilisations, TUPE, service transformation, renewals or retenders.

We are looking for an accomplished, commercially minded Senior Operations Director to take the lead across a portfolio of complex client contracts, while supporting and strengthening the Operations Managers who deliver them.

This influential role calls for a confident, people-centred leader who brings together sound operational judgement, commercial accountability and credibility with clients. You will shape the direction of the business, make clear decisions and empower managers to perform at their best.

What you will deliver

• Bring senior operational expertise to new business opportunities, tenders, mobilisations, renewals and retention activity
• Establish trusted relationships with senior clients, taking the lead on major reviews, escalations and improvement programmes
• Inspire, coach and develop Operations Managers, enabling them to lead with confidence and accountability
• Oversee contract performance, ensuring strong service, client, people, HSEQ and commercial results
• Hold accountability for the P&L and profitability, turning performance insight into decisive action
• Champion innovation, ESG priorities and a culture of continuous improvement throughout the portfolio

What we are looking for

• Significant senior operational leadership experience, with responsibility for a multi-contract or multi-site portfolio within a Facilities Services environment
• Well-developed commercial expertise encompassing P&L accountability, pricing, margin management and risk-informed decision-making
• Evidence of building capable operational leaders through purposeful coaching, constructive challenge and clearly defined accountability
• The presence to build confidence with senior clients and to guide complex discussions, including challenging constructively when required
• Hands-on experience of complex mobilisations, TUPE, service transformation, retenders or contract renewals
• A calm, visible and decisive approach to leadership, paired with the judgement to recognise when to coach and when to provide firm direction
