Job summary

AECOM in London is seeking a Principal OHL Engineer to lead overhead line design projects up to 400 kV within the Transmission & Distribution team. You will engage with clients and coordinate multidisciplinary teams to deliver technically challenging solutions.

The role emphasizes design accuracy, feasibility studies, and compliance with industry standards, with responsibilities including PLS-CADD modelling, sag-tension calculations, and producing clear engineering deliverables.

Qualifications

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience delivering projects for transmission system operators.
• Project experience in overhead line engineering (ideally up to 400kV).

Responsibilities

• Lead and engage with clients to deliver technically challenging OHL design projects.
• Provide project technical support and design of transmission projects.
• Deliver design activities including PLS-CADD modelling, line routing, sag-tension calculations, and conductor/insulator selection.
• Support feasibility studies, conductor ratings, and regulatory compliance.
• Prepare engineering deliverables and perform internal quality checks.
