Job summary

AECOM is seeking a Principal OHL Engineer to lead overhead line design on high‑voltage transmission projects up to 400 kV. You’ll work with a multidisciplinary team to deliver technically challenging designs for national and regional networks.

In this role you’ll provide project technical support, develop proposals, and ensure compliance with industry standards, while engaging with clients and stakeholders across the project lifecycle. Hybrid work options available.

Qualifications

• CEng Chartered Engineer with electrical engineering background.
• Experience delivering transmission projects up to 400 kV.
• Experience with National Grid/SSE/SPT standards.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical support delivering overhead line design on complex multi-discipline projects.
• Be involved in large programmes such as GGP projects.
• Support in writing proposals with timelines, resources, budgets, objectives.
• Provide input throughout project implementation and public consultations.
• Design activities: PLS-CADD modelling, line routing, structural analysis, sag-tension, insulator/conductor choices.
• Support feasibility studies and ensure compliance with standards.
• Identify technically preferred solution/layout to present to client.
• Originate and check engineering deliverables and perform internal QA of drawings and calculations.
