Job summary

AECOM is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer specializing in Overhead Lines (OHL) to lead design on UK transmission projects up to 400 kV. The role sits within the Transmission & Distribution team and offers a flexible hybrid model.

You will work on major programmes, support proposals, and provide technical input across design, feasibility, and client engagement, ensuring quality and compliance throughout.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent.
• CEng Chartered Engineer with a recognized electrical engineering institution.
• Experience delivering UK transmission projects for operators like National Grid, SSE, SPT.
• Overhead line engineering experience up to 400kV.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide project technical support and design for transmission projects up to 400kV.
• Support PLS-CADD modelling, line routing, and structural analyses.
• Prepare design criteria, sag-tension calculations, insulation and conductor selections.
• Assist feasibility studies and ensure compliance with standards.
• Originate and check engineering deliverables, drawings, and reports.
• Perform internal quality checks of drawings and calculations.
