Job summary

AECOM is seeking an Senior OHL Engineer to join the Transmission & Distribution team in the UK. You will provide technical support for overhead line designs up to 400 kV, contributing to the National Grid Great Grid Upgrade and related programmes.

You will work on feasibility studies, design calculations, and deliverables, collaborating with clients and internal teams in a hybrid work environment. Strong UK project experience and communications skills are essential for success.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent technical discipline (electrical/power).
CEng Chartered Engineer with a recognized electrical engineering institution (e.g. IET).
Experience delivering UK transmission projects for operators like National Grid preferred.
Experience in overhead line engineering up to 400 kV.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

Provide technical support in delivering overhead line design on complex multi-discipline projects.
Participate in large programmes like Great Grid Partnership projects.
Assist in proposals outlining timelines, resources, budgets, and goals.
Provide input throughout project implementation, planning, and public consultations.
Conduct design activities: PLS-CADD modelling, line routing, sag-tension calculations, insulator/conductor selection.
Support feasibility studies, conductor thermal ratings, and regulator compliance.
Identify technically preferred solutions to present to clients.
Produce and review engineering deliverables including reports, drawings and presentations.
