Job summary

ScottishPower is seeking a Network Design Engineer to lead the planning and design of the distribution network up to 33kV, ensuring reliability and long-term asset performance. You will analyze networks, develop connection solutions, and deliver cost-effective designs aligned with customer and business goals.

You will also manage third‑party connections, produce designs and quotations, and mentor junior engineers while promoting safety across all activities.

Qualifications

• Engineering qualification or equivalent industry experience.
• Proven experience in a network design role.
• Knowledge of network construction and operational practices.
• Strong IT and system skills.
• Full UK driving licence preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead the assessment and delivery of customer connection requests, ensuring compliance with regulatory and licence requirements.
• Produce and review network designs and quotations for new connections, reinforcements and network alterations.
• Carry out network analysis and modelling to identify optimal technical solutions.
• Manage third-party Point of Connection and design approval activities across the licence areas.
• Apply sound engineering principles to enhance network performance, safety and asset longevity.
• Identify and implement innovative technical, procedural and commercial solutions.
• Build strong relationships with customers, stakeholders and delivery partners.
• Promote a strong safety culture and ensure safe-by-design principles are embedded throughout all activities.
• Support and mentor less experienced engineers, graduates and trainees.
