Job summary

Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust is seeking a Senior Biomedical Scientist to lead supervision of diagnostic tests in the Microbiology laboratory at Worcestershire Royal Hospital. The post includes coordinating lab sections, staff training, and quality assurance, with emphasis on maintaining HCPC standards.

The role requires HCPC registration, an IBMS specialist microbiology qualification and at least five years NHS microbiology experience, with full-time hours and some shift variation

Qualifications

• IBMS Specialist in Microbiology or equivalent.
• IBMS approved MSc or Higher Specialist Diploma.
• Member of the IBMS.

Responsibilities

• Supervise routine and specialised diagnostic tests on potentially infectious samples (manual and automated).
• Coordinate day-to-day running of lab sections and solve complex analytical problems.
• Handle highly infectious material and validate results for release to Medical Microbiologists.
