Job summary

Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust is seeking a HCPC registered Biomedical Scientist to join the Microbiology/Serology Department at Stoke Mandeville Hospital, Aylesbury. You will contribute to a 7-day rota and support a range of diagnostic tests using modern analysers, while maintaining quality and safety standards.

You will participate in training, develop your expertise across sections, and support colleagues in a busy laboratory serving the Trust and surrounding community.

Qualifications

• Safety regulations relating to safe working in pathology laboratories and categorisation of biological agents.
• Excellent written and verbal English communication for clear precision.
• Ability to work as part of a team and on own initiative.
• Experience with analytical instruments and practical use.
• Knowledge of laboratory quality management systems.
• Experience in cascading training to staff

Responsibilities

• Rotate through sections of the busy Microbiology/Serology Department to learn all aspects of the service.
• Help deliver a comprehensive clinical microbiology/serology service to Trust hospitals and community.
• Participate in training and development of technical, medical and support staff.
• Ensure compliance with quality, health, safety and security procedures.
