Job summary

University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an experienced Band 4 Medical Secretary to deliver a confidential secretarial service within the Infectious Diseases Department. You will support consultants and the MDT by managing clinics, processing referrals, preparing clinical correspondence, and maintaining patient records.

The role requires excellent organisation, communication and IT skills, with the ability to prioritise and maintain confidentiality.

Qualifications

• Previous secretarial or administrative experience within NHS/healthcare setting.
• Knowledge of patient administration systems and medical terminology is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Provide confidential secretarial support to consultants and multidisciplinary team.
• Manage clinics and consultants' diaries, process referrals, and prepare clinical correspondence.
• Maintain accurate patient records and arrange appointments/investigations.
• Act as a key point of contact for patients and healthcare professionals.
