Job summary

University of Bath in Bath, England invites applications for a Technician – Student Workshop. The role centers on providing technical support to teaching and research in the Department of Mechanical Engineering, working in the Student Workshop and supervising undergraduate projects.

Based mainly in the workshop, you will use conventional machine tools (milling machines, lathes) and may progress to CNC tools with training.

Qualifications

• Substantial experience with mechanical workshop machine tools and hand tools.
• Aptitude for practical work and problem-solving.
• Experience in assembly, fitting, fabrication or welding is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical support to teaching and research in the Department.
• Assist in timetabled undergraduate teaching sessions and student projects.
• Oversee student activities in the workshop and carry out inductions to ensure safety.
