Job summary

ACTEMIUM Design seeks an experienced Mechanical Stress Engineer for projects in regulated sectors, including nuclear. You will lead pipeline stress analyses, seismic assessments and deliver calculation packages with supporting reports.

The role requires a Mechanical Engineering degree, strong experience in pipeline stress and seismic analysis, and proficiency in Mathcad, CAESAR II and ANSYS, with knowledge of ASME B31.1/B31.3 and EN13480.

Qualifications

  • Degree-qualified in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Strong background in pipeline stress calculations or seismic analysis.
  • Proficiency with analysis software such as Mathcad, CAESAR II and ANSYS.
  • Knowledge of relevant design codes and standards (ASME B31.1, B31.3, EN13480, BS EN 13001, BS EN 1993).
  • Ability to prepare and review detailed calculation notes and technical reports.
  • Desirable: experience in Nuclear, Oil & Gas, Energy, Utilities or Process industries.
  • Chartered Engineer status (CEng) or working towards professional registration.
  • Experience with finite element analysis (FEA).
  • Knowledge of Eurocodes and seismic design methodologies.

Responsibilities

  • Perform detailed stress analysis and flexibility assessments using industry-standard software.
  • Develop and verify engineering calculations for supports and mechanical equipment.
  • Produce stress reports, calculation packages and technical documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with design codes, standards and project specifications.
  • Participate in design reviews, hazard studies and technical assurance activities.
  • Support site investigations, troubleshooting and engineering modifications as required.
