Job summary

Amentum is seeking a Mechanical Calculations Engineer in the UK to support the HPC project, focusing on piping design and field installation compliance with nuclear standards. You will engage with multiple disciplines and CAD teams to deliver robust solutions.

Ideal candidates hold a Master’s in Mechanical Engineering, 3+ years in nuclear/mechanical calculations, and hands-on experience with PipeStress, RSTAB, ANSYS, and related tools. Hybrid working options are available.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• Minimum 3 years in Mechanical Calculation within the nuclear industry or similar.
• Knowledge of EUROCODE, ASME and RCC-M codes.
• Proficient with 2D/3D design and calculation software (PDMS, NavisWorks, PIPESTRESS, RSTAB, ANSYS APDL, WORKBENCH).
• Experience with piping and support calculation tools.

Responsibilities

• Gather data, analyse inputs, and prepare loading descriptions for piping systems and supports.
• Perform piping calculations and FE analysis using PipeStress, RSTAB & ANSYS.
• Design anchorages, welds and bolted connections for piping supports.
• Propose modifications when sizing criteria are not met.
• Check steel structures and supports for electrical cabinets, HVAC, and related equipment.
• Support Equipment Department with calculation notes verification.
• Provide clarifications and respond to site RFIs and NCRs.
• Collaborate with CAD to produce accurate 2D/3D drawings.
