Job summary

ACTEMIUM Design in the United Kingdom is seeking an experienced Mechanical Stress Engineer to support nuclear and highly regulated projects. You will conduct pipeline stress analyses, seismic assessments and deliver robust calculations aligned with safety and client requirements.

The role involves producing stress reports, verification calculations, and compliance with ASME/EN standards, with opportunities to contribute to design reviews and site investigations.

Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
• Strong background in pipeline stress calculations or seismic analysis.
• Proficiency with Mathcad, CAESAR II and ANSYS.
• Knowledge of ASME B31.1, B31.3, EN13480, BS EN 13001 and seismic design requirements.
• Ability to prepare and review detailed calculation notes and technical reports.

Responsibilities

• Perform detailed stress analysis and flexibility assessments using industry-standard software.
• Develop and verify engineering calculations for supports and mechanical equipment.
• Produce stress reports, calculation packages and technical documentation.
• Ensure compliance with relevant design codes and project specifications.
• Participate in design reviews, hazard studies and technical assurance activities.
• Support site investigations, troubleshooting and engineering modifications as required.
