Job summary

AtkinsRéalis is seeking an Associate Director Mechanical Engineer to lead mechanical design teams on water sector projects in the UK, delivering multi‑disciplinary solutions that meet UK standards and client requirements.

You will develop project design deliverables, review technical outputs, and provide technical leadership across the D&AT practice while growing mechanical capabilities regionally and nationally.

Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• Chartered Mechanical Engineer.
• Proven experience leading large‑scale mechanical design.
• Strong knowledge of pumps, blowers, screens, and chemical dosing systems.
• Experience in Water market essential.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of Mechanical engineers on complex multi‑disciplinary projects and ensure high‑quality design.
• Develop project design deliverables for Mechanical aspects and manage time and budgets to milestones.
• Review and approve technical deliverables such as design reports, drawings, calculations, and scopes of work.
• Provide Technical Leadership within the D&AT practice and promote best practices.
• Grow, develop, and manage Mechanical Engineering capabilities regionally or nationally.
• Collaborate with a multi‑disciplinary UK/overseas team to deliver integrated design solutions.
