AtkinsRéalis is seeking a Technical Director for Mechanical Engineering to lead as a technical expert and to drive business results within the UK Water sector. You will provide technical leadership across the national D&AT practice and oversee complex, cross-disciplinary projects, developing innovative solutions while engaging with clients and senior stakeholders.

The role requires Chartered status and extensive leadership of major infrastructure initiatives, with UK-wide travel and hybrid

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• Chartered Mechanical Engineer status.
• Experience leading complex, cross-disciplinary projects and programmes.
• UK Water market experience essential.
• Knowledge of design codes and standards including CDM and DSEAR.

Responsibilities

• Provide Technical Leadership within discipline for the national D&AT practice and influence Practice-wide initiatives.
• Serve as a recognised expert and technical authority in Mechanical Engineering across the D&AT Practice and wider AtkinsRéalis business.
• Provide visible representation of Mechanical Engineering expertise to current and prospective clients.
• Collaborate with stakeholders at all levels, including internal and external clients, operational staff, project teams, and external stakeholders.
• Oversee technical input into bid proposals and define delivery strategy for compliant submissions.
• Identify opportunities for cross-selling and growth, strengthening client relationships.
• Grow and manage the Mechanical engineering capability within the national practice.
• Anticipate regulatory and technology challenges and advise senior leadership.
• Provide strategic oversight across multiple complex projects ensuring technical excellence and safe delivery.
• Work independently and act as escalation point for complex technical matters.
