Job summary

Ranson Barnes Recruitment Ltd is seeking a Business Development Manager in Sheffield with frequent UK travel. You will shape the sales strategy, win new business and grow existing accounts, leveraging your mechanical engineering background to discuss technical requirements and present commercial proposals.

Reporting to the MD and joining the management team, you will manage tenders, build key relationships and develop market opportunities across diverse sectors.

Qualifications

• Proven business development or technical sales experience within mechanical engineering
• Track record of generating leads, winning new customers and achieving sales targets
• Experience selling bespoke engineering solutions or high value contracts
• Ability to understand technical requirements and explain the value of a proposed solution
• Strong relationship building, presentation and organisational skills
• Clean UK driving licence and willingness to travel frequently throughout the UK

Responsibilities

• Develop and deliver a sales plan with clear targets for profitable growth
• Identify prospective customers, generate leads and secure opportunities through proactive calls, meetings and field prospecting
• Build strong relationships with existing customers and identify opportunities to grow their accounts
• Understand customers’ technical requirements and work with the internal sales team to prepare detailed proposals and quotations
• Define the scope of proposed work clearly, protecting margins and ensuring customer expectations can be met
• Manage enquiries, tenders and quotations through to a decision, addressing objections and reviewing why business is won or lost
• Research new markets and competitor activity to identify opportunities for growth
• Maintain accurate CRM records and provide monthly reporting on sales activity, pipeline and performance
• Represent the business at customer meetings, exhibitions and relevant industry events
