Job summary

Mott MacDonald Bentley is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead the mechanical design of water and wastewater projects in the UK, from concept through commissioning. You will coordinate with Electrical, Civil, Geotech and Process teams to deliver designs on programme and budget.

The role offers opportunities to mentor engineers, support client relationships, and work across the joint venture across Wales and UK water markets.

Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
• Chartered or incorporated as ICE, IMechE, or equivalent.
• Ability to communicate effectively with team members and stakeholders.
• Methodical approach to problem solving.
• A valid driving licence and willingness to travel to sites.
• Water/wastewater experience required.

Responsibilities

• Lead the mechanical design of water and wastewater infrastructure through the outline and detailed design, construction, commissioning, and handover, including P&IDs, valve schedules, pump calculations, safe access and lifting arrangements, above ground pipework layouts.
• Coordinate with the project team comprising Electrical, Civil, Geotech and Process designers and ensure designs are completed on programme, within budget, and to framework specifications.
• Work closely with commercial, operational and construction teams to develop efficient, practical and safe solutions throughout design stages, construction and beyond.
• Positively engage with the client, managing relationships and adopting a one-team approach to supporting their aims.
• Support the development of the mechanical engineering team, coaching and mentoring engineers to develop their skill set and identify resources.
