Job summary

MWH Treatment is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead mechanical design activities across major water and wastewater projects in the UK. You will develop robust, buildable solutions and collaborate with Process, EICA, Civil, Structural and Commissioning teams to meet client needs and regulatory standards.

You will mentor graduates and manage design delivery while focusing on safety, operability and life-cycle costs. Flexible hybrid working is available within the UK.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• Experience in water/wastewater projects or regulated environments.
• Proven ability to lead design tasks to budget and schedule.
• Ability to develop practical, buildable mechanical solutions with whole-life cost focus.
• Experience coordinating multidisciplinary design teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical design tasks to agreed standards, budgets and programmes.
• Develop mechanical designs, equipment specs, layouts and docs for asset performance.
• Produce cost-effective solutions considering construction, commissioning and life-cycle costs.
• Review outputs for quality and compliance with standards.
• Coordinate with Process, EICA, Civil, Structural, Digital and Commissioning teams.
• Identify and manage technical risks and optimisation opportunities.
• Support selection of mechanical equipment and systems.
• Mentor junior engineers and apprentices.
• Build relationships with clients, leads and suppliers.
