Job summary

Stantec is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our Water team in Birmingham, Redditch or Derby, delivering mechanical design for major water and wastewater projects and mentoring engineers. You will contribute to practical, sustainable solutions and support project delivery across the UK.

Qualifications

• Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
• Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status or actively working toward.
• Experience delivering mechanical design within the water sector or regulated infrastructure.
• Strong understanding of mechanical design principles, standards and best practice.
• Experience delivering design packages across multidisciplinary projects.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Experience mentoring or supporting junior engineers.
• Strong organisational skills with ability to manage multiple priorities.

Responsibilities

• Deliver mechanical design activities from feasibility and concept design through to detailed design and construction support.
• Producing and reviewing mechanical calculations, technical specifications, schedules, reports and engineering documentation.
• Leading the design of pumping stations, water and wastewater treatment works, pipelines and associated mechanical infrastructure.
• Undertaking site visits, surveys and technical investigations where required.
• Collaborating with electrical, process, civil and structural engineers to deliver integrated project solutions.
• Working with clients, contractors and internal stakeholders while providing technical guidance and mentoring to developing engineers.
