Job summary

Stantec is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead mechanical design across UK water and wastewater projects. You’ll work with multidisciplinary teams, deliver from feasibility to construction support, and mentor junior engineers while driving sustainable, compliant solutions.

Based in Birmingham, Redditch or Derby with hybrid working, the role offers exposure to nationally significant programmes and the opportunity to shape asset performance and operational efficiency across the region.

Qualifications

• Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
• Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status or working towards.
• Experience delivering mechanical design in water or regulated infra.
• Strong understanding of mechanical design principles and standards.
• Experience delivering technical design packages across multi-disciplinary projects.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management.
• Experience mentoring junior engineers.
• Strong organisational skills with multiple priorities.

Responsibilities

• Deliver mechanical design activities from feasibility to construction support.
• Produce and review mechanical calculations, specs, schedules and docs.
• Lead design of pumping stations, water/wastewater treatment works and pipelines.
• Undertake site visits, surveys and investigations as required.
• Collaborate with electrical, process, civil and structural engineers.
• Work with clients and contractors while mentoring developing engineers.
