Job summary

AtkinsRéalis in the UK seeks a Senior/Principal Mechanical Engineer to lead design delivery within the D&AT Practice. You will coordinate multidisciplinary teams on water sector projects for clients such as Thames Water and regional water authorities, delivering robust mechanical solutions from concept through to delivery.

The role offers hybrid working across London/Epsom/Peterborough/Cambridge and opportunities to mentor colleagues, drive technical excellence, and contribute to landmark

Qualifications

• A degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• Chartered or Incorporated Mechanical Engineer.
• Proven experience coordinating or managing a mechanical design delivery team.
• Knowledge of design integration for pumps, blowers, screens, and chemical dosing systems.
• Understanding of current UK design standards, CDM and DSEAR.
• Ability to work independently with minimal guidance.
• Proficiency in analytical software and related tools.
• Water market experience is preferable.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate or manage a team of mechanical engineers for complex multi-disciplinary projects.
• Produce and review design reports, drawings, calculations, and scopes of work.
• Provide technical input into mechanical aspects and manage time and budgets.
• Collaborate with client, operational, project or service activities within AtkinsRéalis teams.
• Mentor less experienced colleagues to grow capabilities within the local team.
• Provide technical support for bid proposals.
• Work with multi-disciplinary teams in the UK and overseas to deliver integrated design solutions.
• Adhere to QA standards in design and review own work and others.
