Job summary

Stantec is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join the Water team in Birmingham, Redditch or Derby. You will lead mechanical design across national water and wastewater projects, working with multidisciplinary teams to deliver practical, sustainable solutions.

Responsibilities include feasibility to construction support, calculations, specs and design of pumping stations and treatment works, site investigations, and stakeholder collaboration.

Qualifications

• Degree-qualified in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline
• CEng/IEng or actively working towards professional registration
• Experience delivering mechanical design within water sector or regulated infrastructure
• Strong understanding of mechanical design principles, standards and best practices
• Experience delivering design packages across multidisciplinary projects
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
• Experience mentoring or supporting junior engineers
• Strong organisational skills to manage multiple priorities

Responsibilities

• Deliver mechanical design activities from feasibility through to detailed design and construction support
• Produce and review mechanical calculations, specs, schedules and reports
• Lead design of pumping stations, water and wastewater treatment works, pipelines and mechanical infrastructure
• Undertake site visits, surveys and technical investigations as required
• Collaborate with electrical, process, civil and structural engineers for integrated solutions
• Work with clients, contractors and internal stakeholders while mentoring developing engineers
