Job summary

Amentum is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join the Lightly Shielded Store Project (LSS1) at Sellafield. The role focuses on delivering a 7200m2 new build with a 100-year design life, coordinating design activities and engineering solutions across multidisciplinary teams.

Strong experience in regulated environments is preferred, with knowledge of UKCA/CE marking and related safety standards. The role is based on-site at Birchwood and offers a path to technical leadership within a major

Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent (e.g. HNC/HND with significant experience).
• Chartered or Incorporated status with a recognised professional body (e.g. IMechE).
• Experience in highly regulated environments is advantageous.
• Familiarity with UKCA/CE Marking, CDM, PUWER, LOLER, PED, Machinery’s Directive.

Responsibilities

• Plan and coordinate engineering and design activities for yourself and others.
• Develop and implement engineering solutions for complex projects across full life cycle.
• Identify design, statutory and regulatory requirements and contribute to risk assessments.
• Produce technical reports, specifications and scoping calculations.
• Review technical deliverables, including reports and drawings.
• Present engineering solutions to stakeholders during design reviews.
