Job summary

Amentum seeks a Senior Mechanical Engineer for the BEPPS2 project in Birchwood, Warrington. You will lead planning and coordination of design activities and deliver engineering solutions across the full project life cycle.

The role requires a degree in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent) with toward-chartered status, and experience in regulated environments. Autodesk Inventor and crane design experience are advantageous.

Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent with significant experience.
• Working towards Chartered or Incorporated status with IMechE.
• Experience in highly regulated environments is advantageous.
• Experience in crane and lifting equipment design.
• Familiar with CE Marking, CDM, PUWER, LOLER, PED and Machinery's Directive.
• Proficient in Autodesk Inventor.

Responsibilities

• Plan and coordinate engineering and design activities.
• Develop and implement engineering solutions from concept to manufacture across the full life cycle.
• Identify design, statutory and regulatory requirements and contribute to risk assessments.
• Produce technical reports, specifications, and scoping calculations.
• Review technical deliverables, including reports and drawings.
• Present engineering solutions to stakeholders and in design reviews.

Amentum is the Design and Engineering partner for Sellafield under the PPP (Programme and Project Partners). This is a 20-year arrangement to deliver ~£7bn of major projects. We are looking to recruit high value expertise from across regulated and comparable sectors to work in a collaborative environment. PPP is delivering major projects, site wide improvements and provision of supporting services.

About the Project

Box Encapsulation Plant Product Store (BEPPS2) is a PPP Major Project to design and construct a new mechanical handling waste storage facility that will safely store waste packages for many years to come. The project status is currently at detailed design.

BEPPS2 now has an exciting opportunity to recruit a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join the team in Birchwood, Warrington.

As a Senior Mechanical Engineer your responsibilities could include:

• Planning and co-ordinating engineering and design activities
• Developing and implementing engineering solutions for complex engineering projects, from concept design proposals through to design for manufacture, the full project life cycle
• Identifying design, statutory and regulatory requirements, and contributing to risk assessments Producing technical reports, technical specifications and scoping calculations
• Reviewing technical deliverables, including reports and drawings
• Presenting engineering solutions to stakeholders and as part of design reviews

As a Senior Mechanical Engineer you will already

• Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent (e.g. HNC/HND with significant experience) in engineering discipline
• Attained/ or working towards chartered or incorporated status with a recognised professional body (e.g. IMechE)
• Experience of highly regulated environments would be advantageous
• Experience of crane/ lifting equipment design
• Familiarity with CE Marking, CDM, PUWER, LOLER, PED, Machinery's Directive
• Experience in the use of Auto desk inventor
