Job summary

STEMCELL Technologies Canada Inc. is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join the UK instrumentation team, leading mechanical design for the development of cell-sorting instruments.

You will influence lifecycle design updates, DFx, and transfer to production while collaborating closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, and Supply Chain. Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (or related discipline) with 6–10 years of relevant experience, Master's with 4–8 years, or PhD with 2–5 years.
• Experience applying DFM/DFA to injection moulded components and assemblies.
• Experience in a regulated environment or QMS (ISO 13485) with change control, root-cause investigations, and design verification.
• Proficiency with CAD (SolidWorks) for 3D design and drawings.
• Knowledge of GD&T and tolerance stack-up analysis.
• Strong technical communication and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical engineering activities for current consumables and manage lifecycle design updates and transfers to production.
• Lead design and development of consumables and sub-assemblies for next-gen instruments.
• Oversee supplier evaluation, design transfer, and quality verification with external partners.
• Support quality initiatives in a regulated environment and drive CAPAs for reliability and manufacturing excellence.
• Design, develop, and test precision mechanical, opto-mechanical, and electro-mechanical systems using SolidWorks.
