Job summary

STU STEMCELL Technologies UK Ltd. in Cambridge seeks a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead mechanical design and DFM for next-generation cell-sorting instruments.

You will work across Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, and Supply Chain to deliver robust, manufacturable assemblies using SolidWorks. The role requires a strong background in DFMA, ISO 13485, and CAD proficiency, with a proven track record in regulated environments and technical leadership for supplier collaborations and design

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering with 6–10 years of relevant experience, Master's with 4–8 years, or PhD with 2–5 years.
• Strong track record applying DFMA principles to injection-moulded components and assemblies.
• Experience in regulated environments (e.g. ISO 13485) and engineering change control, RCA, and design verification.
• Proficiency in SolidWorks for 3D design and drawings.
• Advanced knowledge of GD&T and tolerance stack-up analysis.
• Strong technical communication and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical engineering activities for current consumables and life-cycle design updates.
• Design and develop consumables and instrument sub-assemblies for next-gen instruments.
• Manage supplier partnerships, supplier evaluation, design transfer, and quality verification.
• Support quality initiatives in a regulated environment, leading RCA and CAPA actions.
• Design, develop, and test precision mechanical, opto-mechanical, and electro-mechanical systems using SolidWorks.
