Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead the development of cutting-edge consumer electronics at its Randburg facility. You will drive the mechanical design process from concept through mass production, ensuring high quality, performance, and user experience.

Key responsibilities include problem solving, BOM management, and collaboration with electrical, software, industrial design, and manufacturing teams, with on-site work in Randburg.

Qualifications

• Master's degree or PhD in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 10+ years in mechanical design and product development in consumer electronics or electro-mechanical devices.
• Proficiency in 3D CAD software (SolidWorks preferred) and FEA tools.
• Strong understanding of materials science, plastics, metal fabrication, and assembly processes.

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical design and development of new consumer electronics from concept to production release.
• Use CAD tools for 3D modeling, drafting, and tolerancing.
• Perform FEA for stress, thermal, and vibration performance.
• Develop and manage BOMs and component specifications.
• Collaborate with electrical, software, industrial design, and manufacturing teams.
