About the Role

Our client, a leader in innovative consumer electronics, is seeking a highly accomplished Senior Mechanical Engineer to spearhead product development initiatives at their advanced facility in Randburg . This role requires a visionary engineer with a proven track record in designing, prototyping, and launching complex mechanical systems for high-volume production. You will be responsible for driving the mechanical design process from concept ideation through to mass manufacturing, ensuring exceptional quality, performance, and user experience. Key Responsibilities

• Lead the mechanical design and development of new consumer electronic products, from concept generation to final production release.
• Utilize advanced CAD tools (e.g., SolidWorks, Creo) for 3D modeling, drafting, and tolerancing.
• Perform rigorous mechanical analysis, including Finite Element Analysis (FEA) for stress, thermal, and vibration performance.
• Develop and manage Bills of Materials (BOMs) and component specifications.
• Collaborate closely with electrical engineering, software development, industrial design, and manufacturing teams.
• Oversee prototype development, testing, and validation, iterating on designs based on results.
• Work with manufacturing partners to ensure design for manufacturability (DFM) and design for assembly (DFA).
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex mechanical issues encountered during development and production phases.
• Mentor junior mechanical engineers and contribute to the team's technical growth.

Requirements

• Master's degree or PhD in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• 10+ years of experience in mechanical design and product development, with a strong emphasis on consumer electronics or complex electro‑mechanical devices.
• Expert proficiency in 3D CAD software (SolidWorks preferred) and FEA tools.
• Deep understanding of materials science, plastics, metal fabrication, and assembly processes.
• Proven experience taking products from concept through to mass production.
• Excellent problem‑solving, analytical, and critical thinking skills.
• Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to influence cross‑functional teams.
• Experience managing external suppliers and manufacturing partners.
• Must be willing to work on‑site in Randburg , Gauteng.
