Job summary
Placements24 is seeking a creative and technically proficient Automotive Design Engineer to join our Randburg-based vehicle development team. You will help conceptualize, design and develop automotive components and systems using advanced CAD tools to shape the aesthetics and performance of future vehicles in a Gauteng hub.
The role requires a Mechanical or Automotive Engineering degree, proven design experience, strong CAD/3D modelling (CATIA, SolidWorks) and familiarity with materials,
Qualifications
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or related discipline.
- Proven experience as an Automotive Design Engineer or similar role.
- Strong proficiency in CAD software and 3D modeling techniques.
- Solid understanding of automotive component design, materials and manufacturing processes.
- Experience with simulation tools (e.g., FEA) is a plus.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work in a hybrid environment.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop automotive components and systems using CAD software (e.g., CATIA, SolidWorks).
- Create detailed 3D models, 2D drawings, and technical specifications for manufacturing.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure design feasibility and integration.
- Conduct design reviews and simulations to validate performance.
- Research and implement new materials and manufacturing processes to optimize designs.
- Contribute to the overall vehicle design language and innovation strategy.
