My Client is recruiting for a Senior Mechanical Engineer in the Water Sector.

They are looking to strengthen their engineering team with a Senior Mechanical Engineer based out of Bristol or Exeter offices with hybrid working available.

You will report directly to the Principal Engineer or Regional Discipline Lead and your role will be to provide high-quality Engineering Design services to minimize risks and maximize profits on turnkey and engineering services contracts. You will coordinate the design and produce design documents and drawings, considering health and safety requirements, specifications, and standards relevant to the contract.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Producing cost-effective design layouts that meet specifications and can be effectively constructed and commissioned. The 'cost' encompasses design time, material, erection, and other associated costs, ensuring the overall design solution is economical.
• Utilizing standard practices whenever possible, maintaining competitiveness, and providing estimates and feedback for the proposals department.
• Adhering to procedures and processes to ensure departmental development, and assisting in their development and review.
• Writing, updating, and monitoring procedures to facilitate smooth departmental operations.
• Coordinating designs with all disciplines, both internal and external, to ensure integrated contract execution.
• Maintaining files and records throughout contracts.
• Ensuring customer satisfaction by delivering quality services.
• Fostering a culture focused on customer satisfaction as a key to achieving objectives, considering all stakeholders.
• Supervising and developing staff, ensuring a safe working environment.
• Minimizing waste in departmental activities.
• Considering environmental issues in design processes.
• Ensuring all designs comply with health and safety standards.

Experience and Qualifications:

• Extensive experience in delivering process plant systems for complex water industry engineering projects.
• Understanding of water and sewage treatment principles.
• Experience in managing and mentoring staff in designing water and sewage treatment facilities.
• Membership of a professional institution, chartered or nearing chartership.
• Preferably, a relevant engineering degree.
• Ability to rationalize designs and produce economical plant layouts.
• Good knowledge of water treatment aspects, including mechanical, process, electrical engineering, and project management.
• Flexible mindset capable of handling large data sets.
• Ability to present technical proposals clearly and convincingly.
• Valid driving license.
