Job summary

Kier Group is seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Manager to join the KME team on a major healthcare project in Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire. The role focuses on delivering robust mechanical design solutions, leading multi-disciplinary teams, and driving value while minimising risk across the scheme.

You will collaborate with project teams, manage design activities, and contribute to tendering and project handover, ensuring high standards and effective communication with stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Experience as an MEP design manager for a main contractor or Tier 1 MEP contractor.
• Strong technical understanding of MEP/H services, systems and interfaces.
• Proven ability to lead teams and manage multiple objectives.
• Proactive problem solving with strong organisation and planning abilities.
• Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills across all levels.

Responsibilities

• Manage design and working drawing activities within budgets and programmes.
• Lead design safety reviews and ensure CDM compliance.
• Oversee internal and external design teams, ensuring quality and suitable design solutions.
• Build effective relationships with clients, project teams and stakeholders through clear communication.
• Support tender activities and facilitate handover meetings through all project stages.
