Job summary

Glanua is recruiting a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to lead mechanical design across water and wastewater projects in the UK and Ireland. You will deliver design outputs, mentor juniors and coordinate with multi-disciplinary teams to ensure quality and compliance.

The role requires hands-on design delivery, strong leadership and a track record in piping, pumps and process equipment, with travel across sites as needed.

Qualifications

• BEng or MEng in Mechanical Engineering required.
• Active membership in a relevant body (IMechE/IEI) or working towards Chartered Engineer status.
• 7–10 years' mechanical design experience in water, wastewater or process environments.
• Full driving licence and willingness to travel across Ireland and the UK.

Responsibilities

• Lead the delivery of mechanical design outputs across project stages (survey, optioneering, feasibility, detailed design, tender).
• Develop and review mechanical designs, calculations, and specs for pumps, pipework, tanks, HVAC and plant.
• Produce GA drawings, equipment schedules, P&IDs and construction-ready packages.
• Mentor junior engineers and coordinate interfaces with Civil, Structural, EICA and Process teams.
• Support BIM with 3D Plant 3D / Revit MEP models and drive design reviews and safety studies.
• Manage design delivery performance, Change Control and project milestones.
