Job summary

Vertical Recruitment Limited seeks a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer for its Birmingham team. You will design HVAC, LTHW, chilled-water and ventilation systems, produce calculations and specifications, and coordinate with the CAD team while developing low-carbon mechanical solutions.

You will also manage project programmes and budgets, attend client meetings, liaise with architects and contractors, and support junior engineers on site. Ambition towards Chartership is valued.

Qualifications

• Mechanical building services design experience within a consultancy.
• A relevant mechanical or building services engineering qualification.
• Experience delivering projects through multiple RIBA stages.
• Strong knowledge of HVAC, LTHW, chilled-water and ventilation systems.
• Experience with mechanical design software, IES and CAD/BIM workflows.
• Strong client-facing, communication and project-management skills.

Responsibilities

• Design HVAC, LTHW, chilled-water and ventilation systems.
• Produce calculations, specifications, schedules and technical reports.
• Coordinate drawings with the in-house CAD team and other disciplines.
• Develop low-carbon and energy-efficient mechanical solutions.
• Manage project programmes, budgets and technical deliverables.
• Attend client meetings and liaise with architects and contractors.
• Undertake site monitoring while supporting junior engineers and technicians.
