Job summary

Vertical Recruitment Limited seeks a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer for its Birmingham team. You will design HVAC, LTHW, chilled-water and ventilation systems, produce calculations and specifications, and coordinate with the CAD team while developing low-carbon mechanical solutions.

You will also manage project programmes and budgets, attend client meetings, liaise with architects and contractors, and support junior engineers on site. Ambition towards Chartership is valued.

Qualifications

• Mechanical building services design experience within a consultancy.
• A relevant mechanical or building services engineering qualification.
• Experience delivering projects through multiple RIBA stages.
• Strong knowledge of HVAC, LTHW, chilled-water and ventilation systems.
• Experience with mechanical design software, IES and CAD/BIM workflows.
• Strong client-facing, communication and project-management skills.

Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

Location: Birmingham City Centre / Jewellery Quarter

Salary: £45,000-£52,000

Working pattern: Hybrid and flexible working

Employment: Permanent, full-time

An employee-owned building services and sustainability consultancy is looking for a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join its growing Birmingham team.

The business delivers mechanical, electrical, energy and sustainability services across commercial, industrial, healthcare, residential, retail, care and mixed-use developments.

This position offers responsibility for your own projects, direct client contact and the opportunity to help develop junior engineers.

The role

• Design HVAC, LTHW, chilled-water and ventilation systems
• Produce calculations, specifications, schedules and technical reports
• Coordinate drawings with the in-house CAD team and other disciplines
