Job summary

Keyman Personnel supports an established building-services consultancy recruiting a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer in Birmingham. The role is hands-on and involves ownership of projects, client liaison and mentoring junior engineers.

You will design heating, cooling, ventilation and building-services systems, produce calculations and contribute to design-team meetings. Hybrid working and permanent contract are offered.

Qualifications

• Degree, HNC or HND in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services
• 4–6 years+ mechanical building-services design experience
• Consultancy background with responsibility for coordinated mechanical design projects
• Hands-on experience with calculations, schematics, layouts, specifications and design reviews
• Strong Revit and/or AutoCAD capability
• Knowledge of UK Building Regulations, CIBSE guidance and relevant standards
• Experience leading projects or mechanical work packages
• Confidence dealing directly with clients and multidisciplinary design teams
• Experience mentoring junior engineers
• Interest in low-carbon, renewable, BREEAM and net-zero design
• Strong communication, organisation and project-delivery skills

Responsibilities

• Lead selected mechanical building-services projects and packages.

• Produce and review mechanical calculations, schematics, layouts, specifications and technical reports.

• Attend client and design-team meetings and provide technical input.

• Incorporate sustainability, low-carbon design and compliance into engineering decisions.

I am supporting an established building-services consultancy with the appointment of a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer in Birmingham.

This role would suit an engineer who wants to remain technically hands-on while taking greater ownership of projects, clients and junior-engineer support.

You will be expected to be equally credible producing mechanical designs and calculations as you are representing the discipline in client and multidisciplinary design-team meetings.

The Role

You will:

What We're Looking For
