Job summary

Air Personnel Ltd. is seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer for their Oxford site. You will lead the development of helicopter customisations from concept to manufacture, owning technical quality and regulatory compliance.

You will mentor a small team, manage design packages, and ensure designs meet customer requirements and certification standards while coordinating with customers and suppliers and guiding data transfer for project needs.

Qualifications

• Qualified to degree in Mechanical/Aerospace/Structural Engineering or HNC/HND with relevant experience.
• Proficient with CATIA V5, AutoCAD and PLM systems Enovia SmarTeam/ARAS
• Understanding of national and international regulatory standards (CAA Part 21, CS27/CS29, Defence Standard 00-970)

Responsibilities

• Aid in the development of new product designs and their structure in the PLM system.
• Manage the product maturity and development in the PLM system.
• Lead the design effort for packages of work or modules and manage the tasks and deliverables of a team of design engineers.
• Design check modules (2D, 3D, EBoMs) against internal standards and ensure technical accuracy prior to release.
• Monitor and meet cost and weight targets.
• Communicate effectively with customers and suppliers; manage data transfer for product development.
• Organise and participate in Design Reviews during New Product Introduction; follow up actions.
• Ensure materials and processes are appropriate to each design element and line with standards.
