Job summary

Airbus Helicopters UK in Oxford is seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to lead the development of helicopter customisations from concept through manufacture, owning the technical quality of designs. You will guide and mentor a small team of engineers while ensuring every solution meets customer, regulatory and Certification requirements.

The role involves integrating systems into products and managing design work packages.

Qualifications

• Qualified to a degree in Mechanical / Aerospace / Structural Engineering or equivalent HNC/HND.
• Experience supervising a team of Mechanical Design engineers.

Responsibilities

• Lead design effort for packages of work or modules, develop and manage tasks and deliverables of a design team.
• Design check modules (2D, 3D, EBoMs) against internal standards for technical accuracy prior to release.
• Responsible for design and detail modelling to meet customer, regulatory and OEM requirements.
• Monitor, manage and meet cost and weight targets.
• Organise Design Reviews throughout New Product Introduction and follow up actions.
• Ensure materials and processes align with standards and guides.
• Achieve design signatory status / Compliance Verification Engineer status.
• Assist in recruitment of team members.
