Job summary

Airbus Helicopters UK in Oxford is seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to lead the development of helicopter customisations from concept through manufacture. You will own technical design quality, mentor engineers and ensure compliance with customer and regulatory requirements.

You will manage multidiscipline design work, drive design reviews, and integrate modules into the overall aircraft, balancing cost, weight and schedule while maintaining strong customer and supplier collaboration.

Qualifications

• This role requires a degree in Mechanical, Aerospace or Structural Engineering or equivalent.
• Experience supervising Mechanical Design engineers and delivering certified designs.
• Proficiency with CATIA V5, AutoCAD and PLM systems is essential.

Responsibilities

• Lead design effort for packages or modules and guide a team of design engineers.
• Check modules (2D/3D/EBoMs) for technical accuracy before release.
• Integrate systems into Airbus Helicopters products and manage data transfer.
• Organise Design Reviews and ensure follow-up actions are completed.
• Coach and develop less experienced engineers and drive certification readiness.
• Monitor cost and weight targets and manage design changes for manufacturing.
