Job summary

Airbus Helicopters UK Ltd in Oxford is seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to lead the development of helicopter customisations from concept to manufacture.

You will manage a small team, ensure designs meet customer, regulatory and certification requirements, and integrate systems within Airbus products. The role emphasizes hands-on design, collaboration with suppliers, and mentoring junior engineers.

Qualifications

• Qualified to a minimum of degree in a Mechanical / Aerospace / Structural Engineering field or equivalent.
• Experience with CATIA V5 and PLM systems (Enovia SmarTeam, ARAS).
• Understanding of regulatory standards such as CAA Part 21, CS27/CS29 and Defence Standard 00-970.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design effort for packages of work or modules and manage the tasks and deliverables of a team of design engineers.
• Design check modules (2D, 3D, EBoMs) against internal standards and ensure technical accuracy before release.
• Monitor, manage and meet cost and weight targets for the design.
• Organise and participate in Design Reviews during New Product Introduction.
• Mentor less experienced design engineers and develop capability within the team.
