Job summary

A leading engineering business in Oxford is seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to lead the development of mechanical designs for aircraft customization projects, guiding solutions from concept through to detailed design and manufacture.

You will oversee a small team, manage PLM-based product development, and ensure designs meet customer requirements, manufacturing constraints and regulatory standards in a certification-led aerospace setting.

Qualifications

• Requires senior mechanical design experience in aerospace or regulated environments.
• Proven ability to lead a design team and coordinate multiple work packages.
• Strong knowledge of CATIA V5, AutoCAD and PLM tooling, with numerical tolerance insight.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and development of mechanical systems from concept to manufacture.
• Plan tasks and schedules for a team of design engineers across projects.
• Produce 2D drawings and 3D models; manage EBoMs and design records in PLM.
• Ensure designs meet regulatory, OEM and customer requirements and integrate with manufacturing.
• Mentor engineers, support hiring, and drive design reviews and CVE readiness.
