Job summary

WSP is seeking a Director of Maritime Engineering to lead the organisational performance, technical direction and sustainable growth of the Maritime Engineering team, while shaping ports, terminals and maritime infrastructure across the UK, Ireland, Europe and selected international markets.

You will work alongside seasoned maritime professionals and access WSP's global network to drive performance, governance, client engagement and growth across major programmes.

Qualifications

• Significant senior leadership experience in maritime, ports or terminal engineering.
• Proven people-management experience incl. recruitment, objective setting and performance management.
• Track record as Project Director / technical director on major commissions with accountability for programme, cost and quality.
• Strong credentials in marine structures, terminal planning and civil infrastructure.
• Demonstrated commercial judgement and ability to lead across matrix structures.

Responsibilities

• Own overall performance of the Maritime Engineering team and set priorities.
• Lead, mentor and develop a high-performing, inclusive team.
• Provide oversight for major commissions ensuring scope, programme, budget and quality.
• Manage cost-centre performance, budgets and resource allocation.
• Maintain technical governance and design accountability across projects.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, and regulatory standards.
• Drive innovation, digital delivery and decarbonisation initiatives.
• Build trusted relationships with clients and stakeholders.
