Job summary
Rheinmetall REUK in Newport seeks a Senior Maintenance & Compliance Operative to lead on-site maintenance, ensure safety and regulatory compliance, and support ISO 45001/ISO 14001 management systems. Responsibilities
- Deliver planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive repairs across buildings, plant, equipment, and fixtures.
- Diagnose faults and carry out timely corrective actions.
- Maintain building fabric (walls, flooring, doors, windows, fencing) and carry out basic plumbing, carpentry, and decorating.
- Support refurbishments, workspace alterations, and equipment installation/relocation.
- Support compliance across EICR, emergency lighting, fire alarms/extinguishers/doors, HVAC, water hygiene/Legionella, lifting equipment, pressure systems, and building safety systems.
- Monitor compliance schedules, certification, and inspection deadlines.
- Assist in closing actions from audits, inspections, and enforcement notices.
- Support implementation of H&S and Environmental management systems.
- Participate in workplace inspections, audits, and risk assessments.
- Report and investigate incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions.
- Support waste management, energy efficiency, and sustainability initiatives.

- Support contractor coordination, inductions, RAMS compliance, and performance monitoring
- Conduct security inspections of buildings, access points, and perimeter measures
- Respond to facilities emergencies (utility failures, flooding, fire alarms, security/environmental incidents)
- Participate in emergency drills and support business continuity arrangements
- Maintain asset registers, service records, and compliance documentation
- Support reporting, KPIs, and management reviews
- Knowledge of building maintenance and facilities management practices.
- Understanding of statutory compliance requirements within commercial facilities.
- Knowledge of Health & Safety legislation and safe working practices.
