Job summary

Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh NHS Foundation Trust is looking for a Senior Library Assistant to oversee the Wigan branch of the Trust Library Service. You will support the Library team in delivering a responsive, evidence‑based service to WWL staff and students using our resources.

The role involves flexible site coverage across Trust locations, handling library enquiries, managing Inter‑Library Loan, and maintaining library equipment and databases.

Qualifications

• Experience in a library or information service in a hospital or clinical setting.
• Ability to handle data privacy and confidentiality in line with FOI and data protection requirements.
• Commitment to evidence-based information delivery to staff.

Responsibilities

• Provide first point of contact for library enquiries and support the Library Team.
• Staff library enquiry points across Trust sites as required.
• Assist with Inter‑Library Loan processes and document delivery.
• Maintain ICT, audiovisual, meeting and photocopying equipment; report faults.
• Support requests for basic instruction in online reference resources and databases.
• Identify and recommend improvements to services and processes for efficiency and effectiveness.
