Job summary

Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Senior Library Assistant to manage the Wigan branch library service and support WWL staff and students with library resources.

You will staff enquiry points across sites, handle Inter-Library Loan requests, manage stock circulation, and ensure data privacy and compliance with legislation. Training will be provided and development supported in a hospital setting.

Responsibilities

• First point of contact for library enquiries and assist with marketing, social media, website updates and user education.
• Manage Inter-Library Loan and Document Delivery requests, locate materials, follow up on non-routine requests and maintain statistics.
• Oversee circulation of stock, issue overdue and recall notices and help ensure smooth ICT, AV, meeting and photocopying equipment operation.
• Provide basic instruction for online resources and ensure compliance with Data Protection, FOI and Copyright policies.
• Assist with data entry, cataloguing, and maintenance of library management systems and eresources.
• Support teaching and information sessions for staff and students and coordinate with library team and wider Medical Education department.
