Senior Learning Disability Nurse/Mental Health
Torbay and South Devon NHS Foundation Trust

We are excited to advertise for a Registered Nurse in the Specialist Learning Disability Service, focusing on mental health and children with Learning Disabilities.

The service comprises Learning Disability nurses, Clinical Psychologists, Positive Behaviour Support Practitioners, Occupational Therapists, and Assistant Practitioners. It offers assessment, intervention, consultation, liaison, and training for children and adolescents with diagnosed Learning Disabilities and Autism.

The service supports children and adolescents with moderate to profound Learning Disabilities, including complex behavioural, health, or sleep issues related to these diagnoses.

Main duties of the job
  1. Work within the Specialist Learning Disability Service, providing support and supervision to clinicians across all pathways.
  2. Ensure a strengths-based approach to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate interventions for children with additional needs in the community.
  3. Contribute to risk assessment and care planning in collaboration with children, young people, and their carers.
  4. Provide assessment, advice, and specialist interventions to children, young people, and their families. Lead on mental health needs for CYP with Learning Disabilities and manage a caseload of children with complex needs, utilizing evidence-based care.
